Processing a single 250MB PDF or a batch of 50 high-resolution camera images inside a web browser poses severe memory challenges. A standard 24-megapixel smartphone photograph occupies approximately 6MB to 12MB as a compressed JPEG on disk, but once decompressed into raw RGBA bitmap pixels inside browser memory, it expands to 6000 × 4000 × 4 bytes = 96 megabytes of uncompressed raster data.
